Impasse and Mediation

This is an update on what is going on with Union negotiations.

After the Library Board of Trustees meeting on March 19th, the bargaining session scheduled for March 21st was canceled by the Board.

The Board elected to file for an impasse with the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC), the State Agency that governs State and Public workers.

PERC has upheld the Board’s position that we are at an impasse and, we now must move to mediation, which is not binding and only allows for a very limited number of times to meet with management and come up with a fair agreement.

At mediation, the Union will continue to advocate vigorously for fair and equal treatment of full and part-time staff and will continue to negotiate in good faith.

Thank you for your continued support of Library Workers, especially during National Library Week.
